Bears mock draft

With the NFL draft a few days away, our experts run through a mock draft to see who the Bears could, or should, pick on Thursday.

Jake’s Take: This draft’s quality is very lukewarm, so it’s going to happen. Roquan adds a true stud leader to a rising defense so now there’s elite players on all three levels. Daniels will play guard for Nagy’s offense but can certainly slide in for an injured Whitehair if need be. Meeks and Hamilton are developmental players who can eventually become starters on the outside. The rest of the players are not going to see the field in their first year, but Nickerson can develop into a decent slot corner and Bellamy has oodles of untapped potential. Everybody gets hyped with their 7 round mock drafts, but I’m pouring cold water all over that. #MEH

Jake’s Take: Landing Nelson and Ridley would be coup for the Bears. I can actually see Ridley falling due to concerns with his age (24 in December) in conjunction with his size (190 Lbs on a good day). Nelson falling to the Bears has a 17% chance of happening, but I would love Howard running behind him. Tolliver and McFadden have the ability, they just need good coaching and a little bit of luck and they could become starting outside corners. Mata’afa was a 240 Lbs nose tackle in college, so his translation to NFL is a tough one. Reaves is decent and Flowers won’t be a QB, more like a punt returner to start off along with a practice squad wide receiver. Great outcome for the Bears here. #NOTGONNAHAPPEN
